How to engrave a tumbler with your Aeon Mira Laser

Here is the step-by-step guide on how to engrave powder coated stainless steel tumblers using a CO2 laser:

  1. Turn on your laser.
  2. Plug in the rotary tool. In the video we are using the Aeon smart rotary tool.
  3. Align the rotary tool to the laser by starting with one screw on top of the rotary and moving it to the second screw. This will square up the rotary tool with the laser.
  4. Clean the surface of your tumbler. Ensure that the surface of the tumbler is clean and free of any dirt or debris. Use a microfiber cloth to clean the surface thoroughly. This will ensure that the engraving is precise and of high quality. If you have a screw top lid, use a small piece of painters tap to mark the center of the lid. Align the laser to your cup using your painters tape as a guide. Make sure the end that you drink out of is all the way against the rotary. Move the laser head to the bottom of the cup where you want your design to start and press origin.
  5. Set your focus. Defocused 2 mm to 10.5 mm.
  6. In light burn Create the design. In our example we are making a name “Kinley” and made it 8.5” wide.
  7. Rotate the name 180 degrees so the K starts at the bottom.
  8. Frame to make sure it is lined up. Once you are happy with your layout, remove the painter’s tape.
  9. Start the engraving.
  10. Clean the cup with a magic eraser.
  11. Rinse and enjoy.
